Frequently Asked Questions
How do we sign up?
Once your school has decided to participate with the Heart and Stroke Foundation in running a ‘Jump Rope for Heart’ fundraiser-simply sign up your school. We will then send you classroom posters to track your results and student handouts to advertise the fundraising challenge. All materials must be distributed.
Can any school participate?
Any school within the Greater Ottawa/Gatineau region, including Leeds Grenville, Lanark and Renfrew County that has agreed to take on the ‘Jump Rope for Heart’ program with the Heart and Stroke Foundation, can sign up for the ‘Cosmic Classroom Challenge’.
Is there a minimum fundraising total we must meet?
No. Within each participating school, the class the raises the most funds as a class group, is eligible for the free trip to Cosmic Adventures.
How will we get to Cosmic Adventures?
Transportation is the responsibility of the school/students. Many schools fund the bus from their council budgets. Many other schools ask for small amounts from each participating student family to go towards the bus costs. Unfortunately, due to the cost involved, neither Cosmic Adventures nor the Heart and Stroke Foundation are responsible for transporting the class to their Cosmic Adventures group visit.
How can we make transportation more affordable?
One suggestion is to combine your free trip day with a neighbouring school, which also participated. As 2 classes can typically fit in one bus, it’s an idea to reduce the fee per student, by grouping 2 classes (from 2 different schools) in one bus. However only one class from each school is allowed a free class trip.
Other winning classes have also held bake sales or other small, one-day fundraisers to fund their own bus. The winning classes benefit from increased group camaraderie and will enjoy working together to enhance or enable their day out!
Can we bring more students that those in the one winning class?
Cosmic Adventures is allowing free group entry to the winning class only. However, you are more than welcome to register for a larger group and pay only for those students not included in the winning group/class.
Is the prize transferable?
No. The winning class must redeem the free group visit for itself, and is not allowed to pass it along to any other class, no matter if it’s same school or not. |
